First Version of the Poster

I just finished shooting my third short film as a director. It was such a rewarding experience. It was my first all-exterior shoot, which was necessary due to Covid. I wanted to shoot a scene from my feature drama script Trap Doors and selected the one that happened at a picnic table near a children’s train. The Austin Zoo came on board the project and let us shoot both in the Zoo and near the train route. Such a lovely backdrop and the extras were sure exotic (lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my!).

It was also my first time shooting with two cameras going at the same time. So fun! I don’t know that I ever want to go back. We covered so much in one day that way. I had a fantastic DP, the fabulous Dino Maglaris, running camera one and a talented 1st AC, Angel Cobar, running the second cam. They shot it anamorphic 2:1 and the footage is gorgeous!

The Cast was Phenomenal!

It was a thrill working with a veteran like Libby Villari (Boyhood, Yellow Rose, Ann, etc). And a huge honor that Kelly Dealyn signed on to work with me again after being in my first two films. I feel like I’ve leveled up after each one, and it’s so nice to have an actor take that journey of trust with me. It also starred Paula Brooks, whom I met on the set of Call Waiting, which was my script that was directed by Dino Maglaris. She was so great in that role that I approached her to be in Movement. She not only said yes, but allowed her daughter Mia to join her on set as a mother-daughter duo. Not only was Paula fabulous, but Mia was also a natural. She’s going places, folks! I’m thankful that her “and introducing” credit will be on my film.

Stay tuned for behind-the-scenes photos and stills.
